I've been trying to get this shot for a while now. It never really happens how you thought it would, or comes out like you anticipate. Over the last few years I've made many day trips over to the Grand Canyon chasing storms that wouldn't cooperate. This day was not planned, which is why it probably worked out how it did. Just a last minute camping trip to the north rim with the wife and kids to enjoy some time out of the heat in the lower elevations of the Colorado Plateau. Storms fired off over the Arizona Strip and plowed across the canyon from north to south right at sunset putting on an amazing show of monsoon downpours and lightning. I was lucky to capture this shot from the North Rim Lodge just a few minutes after being pummeled with rain. What a great trip to one of the worlds most beautiful places. Enjoy!
