Lightning and the Chief

Sometimes, you have to be willing to get very little sleep to get a good shot. This night started out with an attempt to do astrophotography with clear skies forecast. Well, after 11pm rolled around and the clouds were just getting worse, I decided to pack up my telescope equipment and head to bed.
Crack, boom, rumble, 3am rolls around and I am awakened by some of the loudest thunder I have heard in a long time. Well, any self respecting photographer would hardly miss a chance to get some awesome lightning shots. I get out of bed, pack up my stuff, and head out.
These storms just kept coming, and coming, and coming. I couldn't believe my clear night forecast turned into the best light show of the year. After landing a few dozen awesome shots, I finally decided to call it quits and go get some sleep around 7am.
Here is another Sleeping Chief shot - the rock formation in the back ground looks like a Native American Chief on his back looking up at the sky. Sunrise mixed with a nice lightning bolt really made the picture.
Enjoy!
